Adding £13.5m-rated defensive lynchpin to Arsenal’s ranks would build a better title challenge

Arsenal fans here around us at the Transfer Tavern have been bitterly disappointed with the way their team have played at parts this season and vulnerabilities in defence certainly haven’t filled them with confidence going into the more important games the season still awaits.

The Gunners still remain within reach of grabbing Champions League football once again next season but only if they can win the Europa League, a notion fairly difficult to imagine right now, even to the most ardent Gunners who frequent in their droves. The pressure on Arsene Wenger has been immense this season after poor form has left his position as manager in jeopardy once again.

A way to leave Arsenal with the future in mind is to secure the signing of one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders – Malang Sarr. The 19-year-old is playing his football for Nice in Ligue 1 and has been ever since his promotion from the U19 side in the summer of 2016. Young Sarr has taken his game from strength to strength during his short time in the top flight of French football but even with this little time to adapt to the league difficulties, Sarr looks more than comfortable at the heart of defence.

Valued at £13.50 million on Transfermarkt, Malang Sarr would prove to be a real signal of intent from Arsenal ahead of their hopes for next season. The usually reliable captain Laurent Koscielny has proven to be sloppy and complacent this season as well as his partner Shkodran Mustafi still struggling in the Premier League.

At just 19, Malang Sarr still has years and years ahead of him to improve his game and bringing him to the top flight of English football would be a great move for Arsenal and could hopefully revive the fans hopes for the club in the future.
