Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly hoping for Arsene Wenger to deliver in the transfer market when it opens for business.
Indeed, the men from the Emirates really are going to have to be busy in the summer window in order to right the serious wrongs that came about in 2016/17.
Whether they can or not, of course, remains to be seen but it really does appear as though the club needs a serious shake-up, with the latest story looking likely to go ahead being Wojciech Szczesny moving to Juventus.
This, though, appears to be a poor piece of judgement from Wenger, with Sky Sports claiming that the deal is all set to go ahead.
Indeed, last season we saw Petr Cech begin to decline as a goalkeeper and, despite being still a solid option, he could now seriously be improved upon by Arsenal.
Certainly, with the Polish international Szczesny, they had a ready made replacement with him performing well on loan at Roma over the last couple of years but, instead, he’s off to Turin.
Indeed, it begs the question as to why Juventus think that he is a suitable replacement for the great Gianluigi Buffon yet Wenger can’t see him replacing Cech.
It’s not as if the Pole has no talent, his Serie A displays have shown that, and so this looks, at the moment, to be another mistake on Wenger’s behalf – which is worrying in light of the new deal he’s just signed.
