Arsenal: Benge shuts down BBC’s post about club wanting Chris Wood as Aubameyang replacement - Arsenal

Recently, Matt Scott joined talkSPORT to talk about Arsenal’s efforts to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and he mentioned the Gunners should go in for Burnley’s Chris Wood.

This story was then relayed by BBC on one of their live transfer updates but the whole thing was quickly shut down by James Benge, Football.London’s senior writer and Arsenal reporter. The Sun recently linked the former Dortmund ace with a move to Manchester United, an exit that would deprive the Gunners of their top goalscorer and club captain.

Still, Benge rebuffed any suggesting by stating this story is not what the papers are saying about the club’s intentions in the upcoming transfer window, suggesting such a claim was only made by one sportswriter and Arsenal fan rather than a paper of any sorts.

Will Auba be an Arsenal player in 2021?

In fairness, Scott was only floating the idea of a transfer, which is an entirely different thing, of course.

Indeed, he shared his view on Twitter and quickly quashed any rumours.

Arsenal fans, what do you think about Wood potentially replacing Aubameyang? Do you believe that’s what Arsenal should do? Let us know down in the comments below!
