It was confirmed last week that Arsenal had missed out on Leicester and England striker, Jamie Vardy, but now they’re are turning their sights elsewhere, specifically Brazil.
Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are starting to cheer up, with the help of a few beers, after being snubbed by Vardy and are starting to get excited about the prospect of Santos’ forward, Gabriel Barbosa.
According to ESPN Brazil, the Gunners have made a formal approach for the 19-year-old, who is valued by Transfermarkt at around £11.25m, could go for more than double that with other European clubs interested.
The youngster who has four caps for Brazil has scored twice in four appearances in the Brazilian league for Santos so far this season and could be an ideal fit for Arsene Wenger, who is looking to bolster his attacking options before the start of the new Premier League season.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern knows all about the exciting Gabriel, and feels he would be an incredibly astute purchase for Wenger’s side ahead of the new season!
