One of the major stories of the burgeoning 2016 summer transfer window came to an end last night, as Jamie Vardy penned a new deal with Leicester City.
It was a gutting blow to the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, who had waxed poetic for a number of weeks over the damage the lethal England star could have done when placed in their frontline.
However, with quotes from the Daily Mail, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has hinted the North London giants could yet make ANOTHER move for one of the Foxes’ most important title heroes.
While the Frenchman has conceded defeat in his chase for the 24 goal star, he has talked up Vardy’s teammate, N’Golo Kante.
The combative French midfielder, crucial to the unlikely usurping in the East Midlands, has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent months, and is believed to have a £20m release clause.
Now, Wenger has waxed lyrical over the Les Blues lynchpin and suggested he could well make a move.
‘We will see what happens in the next two or three weeks. It looks like Leicester have bought a player from Nice [Nampalys Mendy] with similar qualities to Kante, so whether they envisage to lose him or not I don’t know’, the 66-year old told BeIN Sports.
‘If you ask 100 people in the street if they want Kante to play [for France] you will get 100 saying yes. He has done the job in one or two games and I am not surprised.”
Would Kante be the ideal signing for Arsenal this summer?
