Arsenal boss praises Premier League sensation, coy over £20m move

Kante

Indicative of the current malaise their club find themselves in right now, the Transfer Tavern is currently hosting a few unhappy Gunners, following comments from the club’s chief.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to be drawn over speculation linking the club with a move for Leicester City sensation N’Golo Kante, according to ESPN.

The French international has been one of the most amazing subplots of the season, emerging as a top class performer despite a largely unheralded arrival in the Premier League.

He had never played top flight football before moving to the East Midlands from Caen, though has been a major part of the Foxes’ most unlikely of title wins.

Despite the most amazing of seasons at the King Power Stadium, the 25-year old continues to be linked with moves to the likes of the Gunners, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

He is believed to have a release clause of around £20m in the deal he penned last July and Wenger has remained coy over speculation he could make a bid.

‘I cannot tell you anything now’, revealed the 66-year old.

‘He is under contract with Leicester. I am sure if Leicester want to sell him, they will find some buyers.”

While remaining coy is common trait for managers when discussing players at other clubs, Wenger’s rather casual approach to the matter is in stark contrast to those in North London baying for blood.

A defensive central midfielder has been a problem berth for the North London giants, with Kante looking like a natural tonic to such issues.

Would Kante be the ideal man to help strengthen the Gunners’ midfield?
