Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have frantically gathered round the TV screens this morning to hear the latest from Arsene Wenger, who has confirmed two exits are likely.
The French boss, speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Swansea City, confirmed that defensive duo Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy are both likely to leave the club this month.
England international Jenkinson has struggled for opportunities in North London since returning from a two-year spell with West Ham and has failed to impress in the chances that have come this way.
Heavily linked with a move across London to join Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, Wenger was asked about the potential transfer and all but confirmed it was set to go ahead.
‘You look well informed. It is a possibility he will move, yes.’
Following that, Wenger went on to discuss the possibility of Mathieu Debuchy also leaving, with the French defender struggling with injury problems for the entirety of his spell in North London, and confirmed the option is there.
‘The door is definitely not closed.’
Our landlord has admitted he is a bit concerned about the potential departures of two right-sided defenders, although he accepted Gabriel Paulista, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding could also step-in.
