According to the Mirror, Arsenal are closing in on securing a deal for Barcelona attacker Denis Suarez in this January transfer window.
As per the aforementioned report, the Gunners are close to signing the Spaniard on loan.
The versatile 25-year-old has been a peripheral figure at the Camp Nou this season, making just four La Liga appearances so far. However, he has shown flashes of brilliance during this campaign, including a delightful dribble against Levante in a Copa del Rey clash.
He would surely get more game time at the Emirates Stadium, and at this stage in his career, that is exactly what he needs.
Unai Emery is certainly very familiar with the once-capped Spain international, as the Arsenal manager was in charge at Sevilla when they took Suarez on loan for the 2014/15 campaign. Suarez was a key part of Emery’s side that won the Europa League that season.
A reunion between Emery and Suarez could help the Barca man get back to his best. If he can rediscover his best form in England, then he has the capacity to provide the injection of creativity that the Gunners currently need.
What’s more, Suarez represents another option for Emery to call upon to play on the wing, which are currently in very short supply at the Emirates, meaning he could quickly become a key figure in the Gunners’ system.
