With yesterday’s North London Derby having ended up in a 1-1 draw, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are reflecting on a decent week for the Gunners.
The most obvious highlight of the week is clearly the absolute piece of magic pulled off by Mesut Ozil during the Champions League tie with Ludogorets in mid-week, a truly stunning goal.
So, you can imagine the delight upon the faces of the Emirates faithful following reports from the Daily Mirror.
They claim the German is close to penning a new five-year deal with the club he joined back in 2013, handing everyone associated with Arsenal a monumental boost.
Despite initially struggling on these shores, the former Real Madrid man has recently recaptured his best form and is undoubtedly one of the finest playmakers in Europe.
Out of contract in the summer of 2018, the report suggests he’s in line for a bumper £160k-per-week deal and therefore eradicate any fears he could be off.
”We are getting closer”, said a club source.
