Arsenal concerned about future of superstar pairing

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have learned not to expect too much from a January transfer window, but they’re praying for a breakthrough with some crucial contract negotiations.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners’ two most expensive signings in their history, both see their contracts in North London expire in 18 months and the pair are yet to show progress towards extending their deals.

Whilst Arsenal are desperate to secure their World Cup winner and two-time Copa America champions down to long-term deals, the uncertainty surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger could potentially throw a spanner in the works.

Now, The Daily Star reports the North London giants are growing increasingly concerned about the future of both superstars and are worried that they may have to cash-in at the end of the season.

Both players want a huge pay-rise if they are to stay with the Gunners but the main worry is Arsenal’s lack of competitiveness, with Wenger’s side failing to show progress in their quest to compete for the Premier League and Champions League.

Our landlord believes Ozil will tie himself down to a new deal before the end of the season but he can’t say the same for Alexis, who he feels is on his way out!

Will Arsenal be able to keep hold of both Alexis and Ozil? Let us know in the comments below!
