Arsenal could have saved themselves a lot of transfer bother with swoop on £1.8m-rated lynchpin

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were surprised but delighted to see defender Konstantinos Mavropanos perform so well in his debut against Manchester United last weekend.

In a starting line-up full of inexperienced, young players, punters here at the Tavern were expecting another thrashing at the hands of Manchester United. That wasn’t the case and although the Gunners lost the game, the performances of many of their players warranted at least a point from the game in truth.

None more stood out though than the Greek defender who is valued at £1.80 million on Transfermarkt, seeing as he marked Romelu Lukaku out of the game for the majority. The 20-year-old looked confident on the ball and far from out of place in the Arsenal team but it’s certainly left the Gunners fans wondering, where has he been during their defensive crisis?

Having only made his first-team debut last weekend, Arsenal fans have been enduring torrid times watching international defenders such as Shkodran Mustafa and Laurent Koscielny perform a lot worse than the Greek defender.

With Arsenal sure to be preparing a big summer spending spree, why not assess the talent they already have the club because after all it could save them a lot of money knowing they already have a quality defender in their ranks.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Having suddenly burst onto the scene, Konstantinos Mavropanos is an exciting talent that Arsenal fans want to see more of during now and the end of the season. After playing so impressively, why not give him another chance to showcase his talent?
