Arsenal could keep Wenger on one major condition – Report

Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are hoping to see the back of Arsene Wenger at the end of the season, after suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Manchester City once again last night.

The Gunners have been less than convincing under the guidance of the Frenchman so far this season, after missing out on the chance to secure silverware in the Carabao Cup final and now look to be heading for Europa League football once again next season. Although, a two-legged tie against Italian giants AC Milan stands in the way of Arsenal progressing to the quarterfinals of this season’s Europa League competition, in a round of 16 encounter that could prove to be the deciding factor when it comes down to the board making their judgment on Wenger’s future. Indeed, according to journalist Dean Jones from Bleacher Report, sources close to Arsenal admit that winning the Europa League would keep the Frenchman in job.

Indeed, our local residents are less than impressed after hearing news that the Arsenal chief could be in charge next season, with securing European silverware now the main aim for the 68-year-old. Therefore, should he fail in his attempts to bring home the highly desired Europa League trophy, then the writing really could be on the wall.

The appalling fashion of both defeats against Premier League leaders Manchester City has caused for major concern at the Emirates, with Wenger’s future now very much under the spotlight. Although, earlier this week the Arsenal manager stated that his position was the last of his worries, something that could quite possibly be causing the current problems after taking up a rather stale approach.

Significantly, the ball is now officially in Arsene’s court, though, the Arsenal players’ performances will have a huge say in whether the North London club is forced into a managerial change at the end of the season.

Landlord’s Verdict:

News of the Frenchman being handed a lifeline in the form of Europa League success hasn’t gone down well with our locals, as many believe that Wenger’s departure is well overdue. Indeed, having produced two of the worst seasons since taking over at the club, it’s about time that the Gunners looked to bring in a new manager full of fresh ideas.
