Aaron Cresswell’s injury rocked the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern, though the notion of having to call Carl Jenkinson in for another year on loan was proving to be just as scary.
While even the former Charlton man is clearly not enough to put Slaven Bilic off raiding the Gunners for defensive options, fears the 24-year old could return to East London have so far been allayed.
Instead, according to the London Evening Standard, the Irons have made a bid for England international Kieran Gibbs.
However, it has been rejected.
With Arsene Wenger light on his feet as it is in his defensive ranks, he is understood to have snubbed the club’s attempts to lure the academy graduate away from the Emirates Stadium.
Though Nacho Monreal is now established as the club’s first choice left-back, Wenger is believed to want to keep the 26-year old in North London.
Can Gibbs force his way back into first-team reckoning? Let us know below…
