Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, defender Rob Holding has revealed what made him join the Gunners over the summer.
The young centre half was thrown into an early Premier League debut against Liverpool on the opening day of the season which saw the Reds win 4-3, and he has been in and out of the side since in his opening few months of his Gunners’ career.
Our regular Arsenal punters here in the Transfer Tavern have liked what they’ve seen so far though from such a young defender and reckon he could be a real star in the future.
And, given that he clearly wanted to play for the club, they think that kind of drive and ambition is only going to serve him well.
Reflecting on his stint with the club so far he revealed what made him sign for the Emirates side: “I was like, ‘Wow, Arsenal are interested in me,’ so that was one that I wanted to push forward.”
“Then when I went away with England in the summer to Toulon, I spoke to Calum Chambers and he said Arsenal is a great club – ‘If it happens for you, it would be great to have you there’.”
On a bigger scale, Arsenal have had a good start to this season and currently lie fourth in the league table.
They got back to winning ways at the weekend against Bournemouth and are now looking ahead to the season’s latest London derby against West Ham as their next obstacle, in what looks to be a very close run title race.
