Arsenal desperate for deal amid reported offer as Wenger looks for change

It’s been a truly miserable few weeks for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, who want their whole squad ripped apart following the dismal loss to Liverpool.¬†

While the Gunners clearly won’t sell all of their players, as has been joked about since the 4-0 thumping at Anfield, our north London locals are desperate to see Arsene Wenger cut some of his deadwood adrift.

So, reports from the Daily Mirror have at least cheered them up somewhat. They claim the Emirates giants have offered outcast Mathieu Debuchy to Premier League strugglers, Brighton.

The Seagulls are understood to have been told they can have the French right-back for free, providing they take his contract off Arsenal’s hands.

Having joined the club from Newcastle United in the summer of 2014, the 32-year-old quickly lost his place to Hector Bellerin after a number of injuries and hasn’t featured for the Gunners since November.

Though his exit won’t do a huge amount to change the fortunes of the first-team, kicking out some of the fringe players could go a long way into changing the mentality¬†behind the scenes.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Relieving the wage bill of some of its deadwood is of paramount importance for Arsenal.

They simply can’t go on with a huge squad full of disappointments.
