Aaron Ramsey’s departure from Arsenal this summer will be something most fans won’t be able to get over for weeks, and it’s a reality that’s still hard to fathom for supporters.
The Welshman will leave north London as a Gunners legend and as the player that broke the club’s trophy drought and brought success to the team, and Unai Emery now has the massive job of replacing Ramsey at Arsenal.
Finding a replacement for Ramsey will be difficult, and one name that has popped up recently has got fans dreaming of a sensational move this summer.
According to Le Parisien, Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek is on Arsenal’s radar after the 22-year-old declined a move to PSG, putting the club on alert that there is a chance to secure the breakout midfielder this summer.
Van de Beek is one of the many Ajax players to put themselves on the map this season, with the Amsterdam club just seconds away from a Champions League final before Spurs scored with the last kick of the ball to destroy the fairytale for the Dutch side.
Frenkie de Jong is already on the move to Barcelona this summer and teammates David Neres and Matthijs de Ligt are also expected to seek moves away from the Netherlands (The Sun), and Arsenal have to capitalise on this European heartbreak to sign van de Beek.
The Dutch international would be the perfect replacement for Ramsey given how similar the two players are. They both are able to play centrally and as attacking midfielders, while they can also score and create goals.
At 22 and valued at £22.5 million on Transfermarkt, van de Beek would be a signing for both the present and the future, and Emery won’t find any player better on the market to replace Ramsey than Ajax’s playmaker maestro.
Arsenal fans, would you take van de Beek as Ramsey’s replacement? Let us know!
