Arsenal eager to land £10m Premier League midfielder, club facing desperate attempt to keep him

Reece Oxford

Now another season is over for Arsenal, though in truth it was over some time go, the locals in the Transfer Tavern have turned their attentions to potential recruits.

While many are praying for established big name stars to finally rectify the continued problems of the firs-team, the Daily Mail claim West Ham youngster Reece Oxford is a major target.

The Hammers are said to be desperate to keep the midfielder, who starred in the opening day of the season’s win over Arsenal at the Emirates in a holding role.

Since then, the talented teen has been used conservatively as the Irons look to nurture his prodigious talent.

He’s also able to operate in central defence, making him one of the most promising English starlets around at the moment.

Defensive frailty has been a sewing motif for the Gunners over the past few years, particularly in central positions in both the midfield and backline.

With two years on his deal in East London remaining, the club are thought to value him at£10m, though are not looking to sell.

They are understood to hope that their progress under Slaven Bilic this season, as well as seismic move to the Olympic Stadium after the last game of the season, will be enough to convince him to stay.

How far can Oxford go in the game?
