Arsenal have had a turbulent season but their quest for stability next year as seen them eye a new target, which has lightened the mood amongst the Gooners in the Transfer Tavern.
ESPNĀ state the Gunners have joined Real Madrid and Juventus in the hunt for Boca Juniors’ excelling holding midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur, who broke into the first-team set-up with the South American giants last year.
Arsenal, who will lose experienced trio Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta at the end of their contracts this summer, are keen to bolster their midfield ranks and holding midfield is an area where they still lack depth, as there is no direct back-up to Francis Coquelin.
Bentacur, just 18-years-old, is tipped to become one of the best midfielders in world football and Arsenal’s interest is understandable, given the high praise for the player and their lack of depth in midfield.
However, the teenager is currently happy with his Argentine employers and Boca Juniors do not want to lose their prized-asset so soon, whilst it’s likely Arsenal will face immense competition for his services in the transfer market.
