Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are more than used to talking about Arsenal and Metro today provides a new target for us to link the North London club with.
According to the publication the club are set to ask Bundesliga side Freiburg to name their price for 6 ft 2 in versatile enforcer Matthias Ginter.
The player has been linked to a host of clubs and since starting his career as a central defender he has now converted to a central midfielder. German publication Bild has claimed that Arsene Wenger is ‘heavily interested’ in the player and willing to pay the asking price set to be named by the Bundesliga club.
The club will look for around £6 million for the player who given that he is under contract until 2015 allows the club plenty of room for negotiation and leverage with Wenger and his transfer kitty. At only 19 years of age the versatile player is exactly what Wenger is looking for when it comes to rebuilding his squad this summer and would reportedly be more than open to a move to the Premier League especially when it is to such a big club.
Will Wenger make a move for the lesser-known talent? Rate this rumour below.
