The paper claim that Arsene Wenger has his eyes on a young defender after first choice right back Bacary Sagna is still yet to pen a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. Serge Aurier is the man Wenger has been looking at, with the highly rated youngster firmly on his radar should Sagna fail to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Arsenal fans have not only had to cope with seven years and counting without a trophy but have also seen top players leave. In fact you could be forgiven for thinking they were a feeder club for Barcelona and Manchester City. All of this has not deterred Wenger who has claimed that a top four finish each season is equal to winning a trophy, yet this season even that may elude him.
Aurier is only 20-years-old and would prove a gamble for the Frenchman, yet the fee would not be extortionate and Toulouse are willing to let the player leave. Wenger is notorious for refusing to pay over the odds for players and Arsenal are leading the charge for a player who could prove a shrewd acquisition.
