Theres are nervous times for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern ahead of the FA Cup final this weekend.
Having missed out on the Champions League, winning a trophy Arsene Wenger has become synonymous with is all that’s left for the Gunners to salvage their season.
Indeed, the Emirates’ fanbase has proved largely a divisive one over the last few months and it doesn’t appear that the in-fighting stops there. According to the Sun, Gooners star Danny Welbeck could be the subject of the age-old club vs country debate.
The 26-year-old has only recently returned from a long-term knee injury, though is understood to be in Gareth Southgate’s reckoning for the upcoming England squad.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are not thought to be overly keen on the idea of him playing for the Three Lions (something he’s not done in 14 months) so soon after returning.
Southgate names his squad later today and many of our north London locals here in the bar will be keeping keen eyes on it, hoping Welbeck is kept fresh for pre-season.
