Arsenal supporters have been reasonably satisfied in recent times after seeing their side extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 14 matches at the weekend.

Unai Emery’s men went into their meeting with high-flying Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium having picked up 22 points from their previous eight Premier League matches, alongside three wins in the Europa League and two in the Carabao Cup. And the Gunners made it 14 unbeaten at the weekend as an Alexandre Lacazette strike cancelled out James Milner’s opener for the Reds to secure a 1-1 draw for the Gunners, a result which saw them slip to fifth place in the table following Tottenham’s win at Wolves.

Nonetheless, there have been many satisfied Arsenal fans up and down the country in recent times, several of whom have taken to Twitter in recent times to heap praise on midfielder Granit Xhaka, with many praising Emery for his role in getting the best out of the Switzerland international.

And while the midfielder is something of a divisive figure among Arsenal fans, those supporters are spot on to suggest that the 26-year-old has been reborn under the guidance of new manager Emery.

Ultimately, Xhaka made the move to the North London giants back in 2016 after impressing in Germany with Borussia Monchengladbach, but he hasn’t quite lived up to expectation in English football (but for a couple of long-range screamers).

The midfielder hasn’t shown enough guile and discipline off the ball to suggest that he can be the answer to Arsenal’s woes in the middle of the park, albeit he remained a regular under former boss Arsene Wenger in appearing in all 38 of their Premier League games last season.

Yet the 26-year-old has been completely reborn under the stewardship of new manager Emery this season in starting all 11 of their league matches in which time he has netted twice and laid on one assist, one appearance of which even came at left back in the draw at Crystal Palace.

And while he started the season reasonably sluggishly, the introduction of the combative Lucas Torreira alongside him has really helped bring the best out of Xhaka, culminating in an outstanding display in the middle of the park against Liverpool at the weekend, with the Swiss star excellent on the ball and indeed off it.

And that adds to a whole host of impressive displays from the 26-year-old this season to suggest that Emery’s arrival, and indeed that of Torreira, has had a hugely beneficial impact on the midfielder - Arsenal fans are now beginning to see the very best of the Switzerland international.

Thus, those fans heaping praise on Xhaka are absolutely right to do so, as he looks a completely different player under the guidance of Emery.
