Arsenal: Fans celebrate women’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur

Gunners fans were celebrating after the Arsenal Ladies beat Tottenham Hotspur in the first-ever north London derby in the Super League.

Joe Montemurro’s side ran out comfortable winners as they beat their fierce rivals 2-0 thanks to goals from Kim Little and Vivianne Miedema (via BBC).

Little struck in the second half with a clinical strike into the bottom corner before Miedema wrapped up the three points with a finish from close range.

The Women’s Super League attendance record was broken with 38,262  fans coming to watch the encounter. September’s Manchester derby previously held the record as the game brought in a crowd of just over 30,000.

Using the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the fixture meant the record for the largest ground used for a women’s Super League game was also broken, eclipsing the record set in 2012 when Arsenal played Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Fans were over the moon following the win for the red half of north London as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Gooners:

Arsenal fans, are the women’s side better than the men’s? Let us know your thoughts!
