Arsenal: Fans displeased with Freddie Ljungberg’s first-ever starting line-up

Arsenal fans were voicing their displeasure at Freddie Ljungberg’s first-ever starting line-up as interim head coach of the club.

The Swede made some controversial choices in his starting line-up as he brought back maligned figures Shkodran Mustafi and Granit Xhaka.

The German had yet to play a single game for the Gunners in the Premier League; meanwhile, Xhaka made his first league start since his infamous fall out with the Emirates Stadium faithful.

Ljungberg also left out record signing Nicolas Pepe as he confirmed after the game he picks his team based on what he sees in training, alluding to the Ivory Coast international needing to do more, which may come as a worry given his £72m price tag (via The Express).

However, more interestingly, Joe Willock was brought back into the starting XI having started just one match since the third league game of the season (via Transfermarkt).

Fans were left underwhelmed by the line-up as they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.
