Arsenal: Fans don’t want Granit Xhaka to return after international duty

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was once again a key player for Switzerland in their recent international fixtures.

Indeed the 27-year-old played 90 minutes in both their 1-0 defeat against Denmark and also in their 2-0 victory against the Republic of Ireland (via Transfermarkt).

Those appearances took Xhaka to 78 international caps (per Transfermarkt) and it would be fair to say that he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Vladimir Petković.

The same could also be said when it comes to his club. The Swiss has also been a regular for Arsenal this season and has started in seven of their eight Premier League matches so far (via Transfermarkt).

He was also officially named as the Gunners new captain back in September, following the departures of experienced players such as Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny and Petr Cech (via Telegraph).

Despite all of that, Xhaka is still far from being the flavour of the month at the Emirates. Fans below remain unconvinced by the midfielder, and when the club posted a message on their official Twitter account welcoming their players back from international duty, several said that they don’t want the former Borussia Monchengladbach man to return.

Here is how some Arsenal fans responded to the club’s post…
