Arsenal: Fans elated after reports Mikel Arteta wants Rodolfo Borrell

Arsenal fans were getting excited after reports surrounding Rodolfo Borrell and the former Barcelona coach joining Mikel Arteta’s staff.

According to ESPN, Freddie Ljungberg and Rodolfo Borrel should be part of the 37-year-old’s backroom staff when he joins the club.

Borrel is thought to have been Lionel Messi’s first-ever coach when the Argentine joined the club and has also been key in the development of Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas (via The Mirror).

In a positive revelation, it has been revealed by the same publication that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola encouraged his assistant to take the job.

This comes despite the former Barcelona manager seemingly claiming he wanted to keep Arteta at the club (via The Telegraph).

Fans were excited over the appointment of Borrel as they took to Twitter to tweet out their excitement at his seemingly imminent appointment in Arteta’s backroom staff.
