Arsenal: Fans elated as Freddie Ljungberg is named interim manager - Arsenal

Arsenal fans are elated after club legend Freddie Ljungberg was named the interim manager following Unai Emery’s sacking.

The Basque-born coach was sacked after the Gunners lost 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League last night.

It was announced that the Swede would take over on an interim basis with one fan labelling him as his favourite player growing up.

Ljungberg enjoyed a brilliant career in north London, featuring 326 times as he contributed over 100 goals and won two Premier League titles (via Transfermarkt).

There were fears that Ljungberg wouldn’t be able to take over from Emery after it was shown by Transfermarkt that he had just a UEFA A License.

However, James Benge moved to allay such fears as he revealed the former Swedish international had all the ‘appropriate licenses’.

Fans were elated about Ljungberg’s appointment as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:

Arsenal fans, how excited are you by the appointment of Ljungberg? Let us know your feelings!
