Arsenal: Fans excited after reports about RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano emerge - Arsenal

The defence has been a worrying position for Arsenal this season with the club possessing a horrible record in terms of goals conceded. In just 24 games this campaign, Mikel Arteta’s team have let in 34 goals, the joint-seventh most in the Premier League.

The Gunners took steps to add more options last month as they completed the loan signing of Pablo Mari from Flamengo. However, it seems as though they won’t stop there as they were linked, once again, with a move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

According to Bild, the Gunners are very interested in the France youth international, who has so far refused to sign a new deal. The German publication go one step further by claiming that he prefers a move to the Premier League and that he’d be available for €60m (roughly £50m) this summer. In comparison to Arsenal’s options, the 21-year-old averages more tackles per league game than any of the side’s centre-backs, as per WhoScored.

Indeed, the club are reportedly targeting the Frenchman and that has excited the supporters, who voiced their thoughts on Twitter. Let’s take a look at some tweets:

Arsenal fans, do you think the France under-21 international is the perfect player to solve the club’s defensive issues? Let us know your thoughts below!
