Arsenal: Fans fall head over heels for Arsene Wenger after comments on Mesut Ozil

Arsenal fans have been falling head over heels for Arsene Wenger after the Frenchman’s comments on Mesut Ozil and his comments on the Uyghur issue.
Wenger came out in defence of the playmaker he signed way back in the summer of 2013, claiming the German has a right to express his freedom of speech (via BBC).
The former Germany international has been caught up in a storm with China after his comments on the Uyghur issue.
Ozil called out the mistreatment of over a million Muslim minority in the far western Xinjiang region as well as the Muslim world for their silence on the issue.
As a result, the club’s clash against Manchester City was pulled from the scheduling of state broadcaster CCTV.
Chinese Fans posted images of themselves burning Arsenal jerseys with the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang called out the player for being ‘blinded by some fake news’ (via CNN).
Fans were lauding Wenger after his comments about Ozil as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
Arsène Wenger : Invincible Defender of Free Speech. Aristotle of Football. Father of the Emirates. Swear the world would be a better place if we had a position called Manager of the World and Arsène was in it. pic.twitter.com/LtelM27HZP

The moment Arsenal distanced themsleves from Mesut Ozil’s comments about China was the moment they lost all class as a club. Any class that was left… left with Wenger. Fact.
