Arsenal: Fans happy after transfer reports about Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti emerge

Arsenal fans have been displaying their happiness after transfer news concerning Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti emerged.
According to Le Parisien, the Gunners wanted to make a move for the centre-half this window, however, were put off after the France international made it clear he didn’t want to leave the Catalan giants. The French publication are also claiming that the defender believes that the La Liga giants are the ‘best club in the world’.
One fan made his feelings about the player’s quality clear.

A mixture of injury problems and a fall down the pecking order has seen Umtiti struggle with appearances this campaign, having appeared in just 10 games across all competitions (via Transfermarkt). Indeed, the former Lyon centre-half averages 1.7 fouls per game in La Liga, which would leave him ranked second within Mikel Arteta’s team, as per WhoScored.
It doesn’t seem as though the north London outfit were put off by the rejection as they completed the signing of Spaniard Pablo Mari from Flamengo instead. Fans were left feeling pleased with the report that they were rejected as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
Rather we save money and sign a quality CB in the summer that isn’t extremely injury prone
