‘Let him rot’ – These Arsenal fans have no sympathy for wantaway player in contract wrangle
Comments from Laurent Koscielny that suggested the current rift between the club and their captain would not have occurred under the watch of former boss Arsene Wenger have not gone down well with some of the club’s fans.
A report in The Daily Mirror says that Koscielny has been telling people at the club’s training ground that the situation surrounding the defender’s future – involving the centre-back’s unhappiness with contract negotiations – would not have happened while Wenger was at the helm.
With Wenger no longer in charge at the Emirates, it looks as if some supporters are pleased that players are seemingly now unable to have it their own way when it comes to talks.
And fans seem to be revelling in the club’s apparent newfound sense of ruthlessness, with Arsenal not releasing the defender from his contract which still has a year to run – amid reported interest from Bordeaux.
While the club are yet to dish out punishment towards Koscielny for his refusal to play in their pre-season tour of the United States, it seems as if their stance on the player’s immediate future – which includes the centre-back being forced to train away from the senior group – is in line with these fans, who are in no mood to feel sorry for the beleaguered skipper:
I’ve been a big fan of Koscielny but he is way out of line and I’m glad they are not just letting them go. That kind of thing has gotten the Arsenal where it is now. By being loyal to players who don’t reciprocate the loyalty.

Great to see us showing a bit more ruthless streak. Hope they let him rot in reserves to make an example. Unacceptable behaviour deserves punishment
