Some Arsenal fans have lauded their former goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski after a throwback clip from the north London club was posted on their official Twitter page.
The Polish international can be seen saving a crucial penalty from Gary Caldwell in the 2014 FA Cup semi-final shootout against Wigan Athletic to put them through to the final at Wembley Stadium against Hull City, where they won 3-2 after extra-time to lift their first trophy in nine years, as per the BBC.
But before then they had to come through penalties against Wigan as they were drawing 1-1 after extra-time, and the Gunners triumphed with the help of Fabianski as they won the shootout 4-2.
The 34-year old was then let go by Arsene Wenger to Swansea City for free despite his heroics, as the French manager let his contract run down, according to the Daily Mail.
These Gooners lauded their ex-keeper after reliving the shootout:
Fabianski the Hero! 😍♥️

Easily the reason we won the FA cup that year. Wigan gave us a torrid time and Lukas Fabianski was class in the penalty shootout.

Used to love Fabianski’s mentality to know and accept that he was the 2nd choice keeper to a fellow countryman in WS but he never moped he just waited his time and performed in the 2 biggest games that season – the Semifinals & Final
So glad he’s still performing well 👍
