Arsenal fans have been left stunned with their current season amid comparisons with Newcastle United after the games over the weekend.
With Arsenal only managing to draw at home to Sheffield United and the Geordies scoring in the 94th minute to snatch victory against the Gunners’ next opponent, Steve Bruce’s team joined them on 29 points. To add insult to injury, Mikel Arteta’s side are also on a negative goal difference of minus two, just 10 goals better than the north-east club.
The St James’ Park outfit have also managed to win two more games; however, the Gunners have drawn 11 fixtures to their five (via BBC), meaning both sides are 10 points off Chelsea in fourth place.
Fans were left feeling stunned about their campaign amid comparisons between the two sides as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
Crazy if we just held on to our losses against Chelsea and Sheffield we’d be in the fight for top 4

There is something you haven’t noticed yet. After 23 games @Arsenal has negative goal difference. This is insane

The fact that we have a negative goal difference after 23 games is disgraceful

Still two defeats fewer than Chelsea. Mad.

Let’s not kid ourselves this PL season was a one off from the moment Emery wasn’t sacked as we lost to Leicester. Time to focus on Europa League, win it and end this nightmare. https://t.co/D4qpawGn6r
