Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United will have been disappointing for their fans considering they were leading until the 83rd minute. However, Mikel Arteta’s decision to bring on Eddie Nketiah on the 74th minute provided some joy to fans before they were brought back down to earth by John Fleck’s equaliser.
The 20-year-old was recalled from his loan at Leeds United to provide more attacking options for the Gunners. He made 17 Championship appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but started just twice (via WhoScored). However, he managed to bag three goals from the 500 minutes of football he was given there, and both Bielsa and Arteta have similar footballing philosophies, as the Independent have pointed out.
The choice to bring Nketiah back seems to have been a popular one with the supporters. When the club’s official Twitter account posted he was coming on for the first time this season, loads of fans replied to show how pleased they were to see him get some game time.
