A lot of Arsenal fans have been taking to Twitter today as Unai Emery has been at it again, securing the club’s 5th permanent signing of the window in Matteo Guendouzi. The Gunners are buzzing with the show of ambition from their club and the way they’re going it looks like they’ll be fighting for Champions League football this season after playing in the Europa League this season and last.
So, @MatteoGuendouzi, how does it feel to be a Gunner? #GunnerGuendouzi pic.twitter.com/6hEi26LDLJ

At the age of just 19, Guendouzi will have a big future ahead of him. Emery wouldn’t agree to sign just anyone with his reduced budget this summer for the Lorient man to catch his eye enough to splash out the best part of £10 million says a lot about the young midfielder’s ability. The centre-midfielder can also be deployed in a more defensive manner and it’s just a matter of time until he breaks in the Gunners first-team.
Competition for a starting role in this new look Arsenal side will be tough. Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Luas Torreira are likely going to be the three that Emery starts with but that doesn’t mean Guendouzi won’t be able to fight for a place. The 19-year-old has plenty of time to grow and the chances are he will be given opportunities in the squad in the domestic cups and in the Europa league.
