Arsenal fans were over the moon after Mikel Arteta confirmed that Freddie Ljungberg is to be on his backroom staff.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Bournemouth game, Arteta revealed that he had held conversations with the Swede about joining his staff.
He claimed that he got a ‘good impression’ from the 42-year-old and that he was ready to help him (via Arsenal).
The news comes after the former Sweden international’s spell as interim head coach, which ended after the 0-0 draw away to Everton.
Ljungberg had a mixed spell in charge of the first-team, winning just one and drawing three of his six games in charge across all competitions.
Following his spell in charge, Ljungberg was linked with a move to his native Sweden with Sportal claiming he was in talks to take over at Malmo.
The news regarding the Highbury favourite remaining at the club excited the fans as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:

Excellent news. I’ve always felt Arsenal could do with more continuity, we desperately need that link from people who can pass on The Arsenal Way. #arsenal #afc #ljungberg @freddie @m8arteta https://t.co/VMoNfQRf8F
