Arsenal: Fans laud Alexandre Lacazette after ending his goal drought against Newcastle

Some Arsenal fans have lauded Alexandre Lacazette after the striker’s ‘silenced quite a few haters‘ in the 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle on Sunday.
Prior to the game, the £63m-rated (as per Transfermarkt) France international had gone on a run of nine games without a goal, stretching back to the loss against Brighton and Hove Albion in early December (via Transfermarkt). However, despite being dropped from the starting XI for Eddie Nketiah, he made a telling impact during the encounter against the Geordies, scoring a goal and assisting another despite having a mere four touches of the ball (via WhoScored).
He was lauded by his head coach Mikel Arteta, who spoke highly of the reaction from staff and players to the 28-year-old ending his dry spell (via Islington Gazzette). Indeed, he seems to have won back the hearts of some of the supporters, who took to Twitter to show the player some appreciation. Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
Keep up the good work, Alex! ❤️

I don’t know why, but I can see Lacazette becoming a key part of Arteta’s Arsenal side for the foreseeable future

It’s funny how those who were celebrating Lacazette being dropped from the starting lineup yesterday were also the most quiet ones on Twitter when he then scored and assisted at the end of the game.
I think you silenced quite a few haters @LacazetteAlex! 🤫 pic.twitter.com/L2gFG4uASG
