Arsenal fans react to Mohamed Elneny’s Europa League performance

Arsenal supporters have been pretty satisfied in recent times after seeing their side get their Europa League group stage campaign underway with three points on Thursday night.

Unai Emery’s men went into their clash with Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava off the back of three successive victories in the Premier League, the latest of which a 2-1 success at Newcastle United on Saturday. And the Gunners got their European campaign off to a winning start as well at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday as a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as strikes from Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil sealed a 4-2 win for Emery’s side, thus maintaining their impressive recent run of form.

Thus, there have been many delighted Arsenal fans up and down the country in recent times, although several took to Twitter both during and indeed after the game to express their displeasure with Mohamed Elneny’s performance.

The Egypt international made the move to North London back in 2016 after three years at Swiss side Basel, yet Thursday was his first appearance of the season for Emery’s side having been an unused substitute in each of their opening five Premier League games.

Yet the 26-year-old did little to suggest that he was ready to reclaim a place in the first team on a regular basis with a below-par display at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night, a display which prompted many Gunners fans to take to Twitter to lay into the midfielder…
