Arsenal: Fans reminisce over Lukas Podolski’s strike for the club

Arsenal fans have been reminiscing over Lukas Podolski’s strike for the club in their 2-0 win over Montpellier back in November 2012.

After laying the ball off to Olivier Giroud, the French striker clipped it in the air to the German international as he unleashed a volley into the back of the net.

Robin van Persie’s strike against Charlton Athletic is one volley that springs to mind when looking for comparisons.

After Emmanuel Eboue crossed the ball from the right-hand side, the Dutchman took flight and volleyed the ball past Scott Carson, labelled as Arsenal’s 3rd greatest goal ever (via Arsenal).

Another memorable volley featuring van Persie is his strike in the 2-1 win over Everton back in 2011. Alex Song played a delightful chipped ball in behind the Merseysider’s defence before the marksman struck a fierce volley into the far corner for the winning goal (via Independent).

Fans took to Twitter to reminisce over the goal from Podolski. Here is a selection of tweets from Gooners:
