Arsenal: Fans take trip down memory lane as they laud legend Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal

Loads of Arsenal fans have been reminiscing over former player Dennis Bergkamp and his time at the club.

AFTV’s official Twitter account posted a picture of the Arsenal legend and asked how good was he, resulting in a flood of positive responses.

The Dutchman joined the Gunners from Inter Milan back in 1995 and went on to enjoy a very successful spell in north London. In 423 appearances, he managed to score 120 goals and claim an array of honours, including that 2003/04 Premier League title Arsene Wenger’s side won after going the entire campaign unbeaten.

It is perhaps that sort of productivity that Arsenal are lacking now and which is costing the 10th-placed team. “Mesut Ozil can’t compare to the great Dennis Bergkamp,” was one fan’s response to the Twitter post about the ex-Netherlands international.

Ozil is yet to register a goal this season and, while he is averaging 2.1 key passes per game (the most in Arsenal’s squad, per WhoScored), the assists are also starting to dry up, with the German playmaker recording just the one in English football’s top division.

It seems such struggles are making some Arsenal fans really appreciate having a player of Bergkamp’s ability once upon a time, as you can see below…
