Arsenal: Fans thank Marcus Edwards after ex-Tottenham Hotspur man scores in Vitoria’s win

Arsenal fans were feeling appreciative after ex-Tottenham Hotspur Marcus Edwards scored the winning goal for Vitoria S.C. in their win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German side were well on their way to topping the group until a late double from the Portuguese side meant they had to settle for second place.

Freddie Ljungberg’s side needed all the help they could get after they found themselves 2-0 down and on the verge of collapse against Standard Liege.

Edwards is a former graduate of Spurs’ academy and featured for the club’s under-23 side more than 20 times before being sold to Vitoria in September (via Transfermarkt).

He was also on the scoresheet against the Gunners when Vitoria turned up at the Emirates Stadium on matchday three, scoring the opening goal after just eight minutes.

Fans seemed to be thankful after the youngster helped his former rivals finish top of the group as they took to Twitter to react.

Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
