Having won the FA Cup over the course of the weekend, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in a celebratory mood for what seems like an eternity.
Finally, the Gunners have been given something to shout about and our north London locals can at least take something positive away from this otherwise most miserable of campaigns. Indeed, reports from the Daily Mirror have only added to the good moods amongst them of late.
According to their story, top brass at the Emirates are ready to table offers to both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil over the notion of extending their deals with the club. Both superstars are due to see their contracts expire in around 12 months and have frequently been linked with exits of late.
Arsene Wenger reportedly hopes the feel-good factor of winning the FA Cup will increase the chances of convincing both to stay and the two deals are thought to be under discussion at today’s board meeting. Sanchez is believed to be being offered a two-year extension worth around £275kp-/w, whereas Ozil will reportedly be offered £280k-p/w over the same period of time.
As you can imagine, the Gunners in the bar are desperately hoping their two star players agree to these deals.
