Arsenal: Fans wish Gilberto Silva a happy 43rd birthday

Plenty of Arsenal fans were remembering Gilberto Silva after the midfielder turned 43 today.

The former invincible joined the club from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro for a mere £4.5m in the summer of 2002 (via BBC).

Silva went on to enjoy a fine career with the north London giants, winning five trophies in just six seasons at the club (via TransferMarkt).

The former Brazil international also enjoyed a glittering international career, winning the World Cup and the Copa America.

Alongside his trophy haul, the 43-year-old made 244 Arsenal appearances, scoring 24 goals and assisting a further 10.

Silva was the first Arsenal player to score a goal in a competitive game at the Emirates Stadium, doing so back in 2006 in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Fans remembered the midfielder on his birthday with some fans recalling his best moment in an Arsenal shirt as they took to Twitter to react.
