The signing of Alexandre Lacazette over the course of the summer has certainly excited the Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, to say the least.
With the Frenchman finally on board, many of the Gooners who frequent our hall in their droves are delighted they can look to a marquee marksman to lead the line at long last. Still, while they remain optimistic, reports from the Daily Mail have brought them straight back down to earth.
They claim star man Alexis Sanchez remains eager to leave the Emirates and now believes he could force through a move to Manchester City. A reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has been touted for the 28-year-old forward, though the Gunners reportedly aren’t willing to sell to a domestic rival.
However, the report suggests the Chilean and his representatives are confident they have the upper hand, with the player having just one year on his deal left in north London. His camp are understood to believe the club will eventually give in, despite their insistence otherwise.
Arsenal may be able to recoup as much as £50m for the player, so the idea of keeping him another year to lose him for free has scared the punters propping up our bar.
If Arsene Wenger to land a big name forward as his replacement, many of our locals believe he can go if he really doesn’t want to stick around.
