For the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, the proverbial silly season has often proved frustrating.
Whether it has been watching their best players depart, or seeing Arsene Wenger continually fail to address long running issues within the Gunners’ ranks, the punters have often drowned their sorrows at this time of year.
However, reports from the Daily Mirror have come as a welcome reprieve to the North London locals at long last.
They claim that the Emirates giants have rebuffed all attempts emanating out of Manchester City in their attempts to land Spanish international Hector Bellerin to the Etihad Stadium.
The 21-year old has been strongly linked with a move to join Pep Guardiola in Manchester, though remains a pivotal part of Wenger’s plans.
To that end, the club are understood to be so infuriated by their attempts to nab the La Roja ace, that they personally contacted City’s chief transfer man Txiki Begiristain to issue a firm hands-off warning.
Arsenal are said to feel as if their repeated interest has complicated their own negotiations with the former Barcelona youngster, in their attempts to tie him down to a long-term contract.
How crucial is Bellerin to Wenger’s title tilt?
