If there’s one defender in the Premier League who deserves a move to a top-six club, it’s Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.

The towering centre-back became a national icon during last summer’s 2018 World Cup where he scored in England’s quarter-final win against Sweden and won praise from fans and pundits across the world for his imposing performances on the world’s biggest sporting stage.

After such an impressive display in the World Cup, it was only natural that a big money move was being talked about, with Manchester United reportedly willing to spend £50 million on the Leicester defender, but no move came up, and nearly 12 months later another top-six side have been rumoured with a move for Maguire.

According to the Sun via HITC, Maguire is one of the defenders Arsenal are targeting this summer as the Gunners aim to rebuild their defence following another season of calamitous and sometimes comedic performances in the back-line.

Unai Emery is reportedly keen on selling defender Shkodran Mustafi, who has been one of Arsenal’s most embarrassing players this season and a figure that has cost the Gunners important points in the Premier League.

Maguire, who joined Leicester City for £17 million in 2017, would be a player who won’t only replace Mustafi in the Arsenal team, but also solve the majority of the Gunners’ defensive problems.

The English international is one of the most reliable defenders outside the top-six, evident by his continuous appearances for the national team, and Arsenal can benefit from signing a player who has a good number of appearances in the Premier League rather than signing overseas talent.

Maguire has long been waiting for a move to a top-six side, and for Arsenal, they can make that dream a reality for one of the Premier League’s most liked defenders.
