Arsenal hold off last ditch Spurs attempt to scupper deal, defender only has eyes for Wenger

The proactive approach Arsene Wenger has taken to the transfer window, even in its burgeoning stages, has delighted the Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern.

After watching their side remain almost entirely dormant in the market last year, the Gunners have been the early leaders in it this year by signing Granit Xhaka and moving for Jamie Vardy.

Now, according to Football Insider, the club are closing in on a deal to bring Bolton Wanderers defender Rob Holding to North London this summer.

The 20-year old is a hugely rated prospect with the Trotters and despite a dreadful season for the club, emerged with a far enhanced reputation.

Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to have made a last minute attempt to land him, though it appears he is destined for the Emirates Stadium.

It is claimed that a second offer of around £1.5m has been made for the defender, who reportedly favours a move to Arsenal over any other suitors.

Will Holding be able to adapt to the Premier League right away? Like John Stones?
