While Arsenal are a club with lavish funds and a cosmopolitan location, the Gunners in the Transfer Tavern always find themselves lamenting silly season.
It seems as if every year the North London giants are linked with the same names, only to head into the campaign laughably under prepared.
However, amid those drowning their sorrows at the bar, there has emerged a feeling of optimism.
One of the most eagle eyed punters has spotted claims from Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, suggesting the club are ramping up their attempts to land a marquee marksman.
Arsenal staff had a transfer meeting today & are plotting a big name striker move. Not Higuain/Lacazette/Icardi though.

Talks are believed to have been held between top brass at the Emirates as they plot a huge move, with between £50-60m set side for a potential deal.
Keeping the name between a few of them. Contact to be made tomorrow as there is £50-60m ready to be spent on the player. #Arsenal #afc

He claims that their preferred target is NOT the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Mauro Icardi or Gonzalo Higuain, with the club keeping their cards very close to their chests over the marksman matter.
With Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott failing to wholly convince as men to lead the line, Arsene Wenger must switch targets after being snubbed by Jamie Vardy.
