Arsenal identify Wenger replacement, contact made in last two weeks

To say the dynamic has shifted towards #WengerOut among Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern over the past couple of weeks is a pretty fair assessment.

While many have remained steadfast in their loyalty to Arsene Wenger for a while, the tide really turned after the 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, while suggestions Alexis Sanchez wants out have done little to keep anyone in the Frenchman’s camp.

Indeed, most are already discussing who could replace Wenger, and a popular candidate is Massimiliano ‘Max’ Allegri of Juventus, which makes the latest news from well-known football journalist Tancredi Palmeri all the more interesting.

Palmeri caused a stir by announcing a countdown to a huge Arsenal exclusive this morning and the news broke at just past 12pm that Allegri is a target the club have in mind and that contact with him has been made, with the last discussions coming 10 days ago.

In the attached article, it’s claimed that the tactician himself is somewhat keen on a Gunners move, as reflected by discussions having taken place more than once, but negotiations are at an early stage and the Juve boss is concerned about the language barrier he may face.

Palmeri has previous on this story, claiming last week that Wenger has told senior Arsenal players that he will leave when his contract ends this summer.

Arsenal fans will regret pushing Arsene Wenger out if he leaves – agreed?
