Arsenal in audacious £40m Bayern Munich raid, formidable defender eyed

Ever the cynic, the Landlord of the Transfer Tavern has had to deal with the constant complaining of the Arsenal fans who frequent in their droves, who’ve watched their side remain almost entirely dormant in the market for much of the past year.

Now, with his punters dancing on the pool tables thanks to the Gunners’ proactive approach, he’s wishing they’d calm down again.

According to a report in the Daily Star on Sunday (via the Daily Cannon), a transfer tidbit seemingly missed by the masses, the North London giants are casting watchful eyes over David Alaba of Bayern Munich.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be willing to shell out as much as £40m for the versatile Austrian, regarded by many as the best full-back in world football today.

Wary of being left behind by the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho this summer, the Frenchman is said to be plotting a major overhaul.

He has already signed Granit Xhaka in a huge deal and will continue his striker search in North London, having missed out on Jamie Vardy.
